Sampling Process: Embroidery

As a visually impaired customer their is often a lack of emotional attachment to clothing in stark contrast with the every day fashion consumer. In order to create a purpose for embroidery I have used my beautiful object, braille, to create funcitionable reading braille with the use of embroidery.

When researching into current fashion trends; I can across a vast amount of designers focussing their collections solely upon graphic prints and colour.

For Example:

Solving the Problem:

However, this type of fashion holds no use to my target consumer due to their lack of visual awareness, so I started to experiment with  different types of embroidery to enable my consumer to connect to the garments I have been designing.  By using a braille translator online I have been able to translate certain words or phrases into a braille representation.

This sample reads 'I am Beautiful' and is repeated to create an interesting pattern. The embroidery becomes a funcitionable item on the garment as it can be read by the visually impaired as well as creating a new and interesting garment detail.

Similar to my previous embroidery sample this contains a braille representation of 'Beautiful'. However this sample is a larger representation of the previous. The samples purpose was to create embroidery that is also appealing to a wider fashion market not only my diverse consumer. The idea was to make my beautiful object an interesting and fashionable print upon the garment.
