Sampling Process: Knots

When researching ideas to represent my beautiful object I came across the idea of knotting fabric n several books. Knotting fabric seemed to fit my beautiful object well as the knots represent a circular theme which runs throughout the different types of braille. Furthermore it creates an interesting texture for my target consumer to feel as we as making the garment aesthetically pleasing.

This image was  taken from Pattern Magic and inspired me to investigate uses for knots on a garment.

Here are some of the samples I experimented with after researching 'Pattern Magic' and 'The Art of Fabric Manipulation'.

Knotting the shoulders, alternative sleeves.

Crossing over the  lines of knots to give the sleeve a more interesting texture.

Experimenting with the positioning of the knots, this could be a waistline feature rather than a sleeve

.

Trialling different lengths of strap, different thicknesses of fabric as well as alternative spacing between the groups of knots.

Experimenting with trapped knots and rows of knotted fabric to build texture in a garment.
